South Side

These areas are popular sites for weddings on the grounds. The swale where the gazebo sits once was a creek bed for Gird Creek. Mr. Daly  had the creek diverted from this area to form part of an irrigation ditch system for his ranch. The cement plunge which is almost the size of an Olympic pool, was built in 1911. The newspapers of the day reported it would be heated by one of the two boilers in the basement of the home. No evidence has been found that this ever took place. The white lattice fence and bathhouses were added at a later date. The Arbor is an exact reproduction of the original that fell down during the over 40 years the Mansion was boarded up. The Arbor leads from the sun porch of the home to the plunge area and is a favorite of brides getting married here.
