In 1986 the gates to this beautiful home were opened for the first time in over 40 years in preparation of the Mansion being opened to the public. The first part of the lane is planted with sugar maple trees that are 60-70 years old. In February and March volunteers tap the trees for their sap and make maple syrup that is then sold in the gift shop of the Mansion. Autumn here at the Mansion is a favorite of photographers taking pictures of the beautiful fall foliage. There are over ----species of trees on the grounds of the Mansion. Some of which are thought to be over 100 years old. There are species here that are not found anywhere else in Montana. The Daly's would have trees shipped to this property from all over the world. Those that could withstand our climate thrived making the grounds a wonderful shady place for summertime picnics.
